John Ahrens | Southcentral Lay Man Representative, 2016-2018 | Communications Subcommittee | West Texas, Rio Grande, Louisiana, Western Louisiana, Mexico | Communications Sub-Committee | EMAIL: email@example.comIt’s so easy John to say: “Cursillo changed my Life” – because it’s true! Before Cursillo, he believed that God was out there… someplace, and He knew all about John. After Cursillo, he learned God had been right next to me all the time; and that he had intervened and saved me from self-destruction 20-years earlier. His Reunion Groups, larger Cursillo community and wife (of 24-years) keep him grounded and focused on what’s really important. John has served in his diocese’s Cursillo leadership for the past 8-years; and recently finished two-years as Lay Director. He is currently in Education for Ministry (EfM). At church, he is the lead for his church’s volunteer media ministry. They call themselves selfless servants; knowing that if the job is done well, the work will be invisible. John desires to be ready for what God calls him to by asking “What’s next?” and imploring “Send me!”
The Rev. Deacon Vincent Jang | Western Clergy Representative, 2018-2020 | Publications Sub-Committee | California, Los Angeles, Nevada, San Diego, San Joaquin, and Utah | EMAIL: firstname.lastname@example.orgI experienced Cursillo in May of 1998 at the weekend sponsored by the San Francisco San Mateo, an ecumenical community that existed starting the 1960s. Vocation was always on my mind yet happened much later as a call to the Diaconate when it became a fully restored order. Before God’s call, Dn. Vince enlisted in the US Coast Guard Reserve and completed 28 years of military service, now retired as a Chief Petty Officer, yet continues to work as a Systems Analyst as a civilian with the USCG. Dn. Vince was asked to become the Anglican Spiritual Director for a men’s weekend in 2006 and has not stopped being in this role for both men and women’s weekends since then. He graduated with a Bachelors of Theological Studies in 2001 from the Episcopal School for Deacon at Berkeley, CA., and has served as a Deacon in the Episcopal Church since 2004.

Jan Millar | National Episcopal Cursillo Leaders Workshop Coordinator | EMAIL: email@example.comJan's name was Jan Awkerman when she attended Episcopal Cursillo Weekend #35 in the Diocese of Upper South Carolina (July 31-August 3, 1986). She was a member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Simpsonville, SC, and many of her friends had spoken about Cursillo. Upon meeting a man named Dave Millar in April of 1986, Jan learned that he was going to be Lay Rector of one of these Cursillo Weekends. Being impressed to learn of this bachelor’s involvement in this ministry, Jan phoned him to affirm his dedication. Dave took advantage of the opportunity to “Make a friend, be a friend, and…” see that this new friend was sponsored for Cursillo. Oh, he not only brought his new friend to Christ, but married her a year later, in May, 1987. Dave took a transfer with First Union (now Wells Fargo) to Charlotte in January 1988 and they moved to nearby Concord, NC. Dave and Jan have remained active in the Charlotte area Ultreya, and Jan has served on the teams of five Cursillo Weekends in the Diocese of North Carolina. Dave and Jan have been faithful attendees of most annual Episcopal Cursillo Ministry seminars/conferences since 1989. She served as Executive Secretary of the diocesan Secretariat for a few recent years, and became the Episcopal Cursillo Leaders Workshop Coordinator for the Southeast District at the 2010 Episcopal Cursillo Ministry Conference. Their district typically held one to three ECLWs per year during the past four years. Jan has had the privilege of exploring new formats for the Workshops in an attempt to offer the same educational opportunity in a more efficient time frame. She looks forward to leading this endeavor on the national level, having traded territories with Dr. Nina Jo Moore.
